Awarded by ABC Awards, the Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling Level 4 is designed to support individuals who have completed introductory counselling training and are looking to progress towards a professional counselling role.
You will cover a range of topics aimed at developing advanced counselling skills. You will explore a range of counselling theories and approaches and gain an understanding of ethical practice, diversity and inclusion, self-awareness, reflective practice, and professional boundaries. Students will also learn how to build effective therapeutic relationships and support clients within a safe and professional counselling environment.
What else do I need to know?
The Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (ABC Awards) consists of a range of mandatory units designed to develop the knowledge, skills and professional competencies required to work as a therapeutic counsellor.
Students will study:
- Working ethically, safely and professionally as a Counsellor
- Working within a Counselling relationship
- Working with client diversity in Counselling work
- Working within a user-centred approach to Counselling
- Working with self-awareness in the Counselling process
- Working within a coherent framwork of Counselling theory and skills
- Working self-reflectively as a Counsellor
These units cover key topics including ethical practice, counselling skills, diversity and inclusion, counselling theories, professional boundaries, self-awareness, reflective practice, and working effectively with clients in a therapeutic setting. Students will also undertake supervised counselling practice to develop their practical skills and professional competence.
A mandatory 100-hour counselling placement forms part of the qualification and is a requirement for successful completion of the course. Students are therefore strongly advised to have a suitable placement arranged and ready to begin at the start of the programme to ensure they can meet the qualification requirements and gain the necessary supervised client practice hours.
To enrol on the Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, applicants are typically expected to have successfully completed a Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies (or an equivalent counselling qualification) and demonstrate the knowledge, skills and personal readiness required for practitioner-level training.
The Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling will take you 18 months to complete. You will attend college at our Rochford Campus in Boston for one session per week plus independent study.
The Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling course will cost £2225.00.
You may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to help with your College fees. If you progress to employment you won't have to pay anything back until you’re earning £25,000 per year. Assessment is via course work which will be assessed both internally and externally.
Successful completion of the Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling can support progression into a professional Counselling role, or onto higher level study.
