Professional Development

At Boston College, your professional growth is a priority. We actively encourage staff to pursue further qualifications and additional development within their roles. To support this, there's an opportunity for your studies to be either fully or partly funded by the College. To help you stay on track, the College also operates an Individual Performance Review (IPR) system, ensuring you have regular feedback and clear goals for your career progression.

Pension

Boston College provides access to excellent pension schemes, either the Local Government Pension Scheme or Teachers' Pensions, with generous employer contributions. These schemes offer more than just retirement savings; they also include other valuable benefits, such as ill health pensions, widow(ers) pensions, and death in service awards for eligible staff (for staff who have been members for 2 years).

Living in Lincolnshire

Lincolnshire is one of the most beautiful counties in England with a wide diversity of landscapes, including several sandy beaches, heathland forests and urban areas such as Lincoln. In addition, there are a number of attractive market towns and villages.

Boston is a traditional English market town in the county of Lincolnshire. It is a small, quiet, rural location with a population of around 60,000 people. Boston is about 120 miles from London. Located on the East Coast, it is an area of rich farmland, and has a fascinating agricultural and maritime history. Boston is a seaport with docks, a fishing fleet, and just over half an hour from the seaside holiday town of Skegness.

The town has a wide variety of shops, sports and entertainment facilities. There are good road and rail links to cities such as Lincoln, Nottingham and Cambridge, with London just two and a half hours away by train.

The town is easy to find your way around either on foot or by bike, and is a safe and pleasant place in which to live and study.
