Course Summary

The Level 2 Understanding Autism Certificate aims to develop students’ understanding of autism and the principles of supporting individuals with autism - covering the person-centred approach and influence of positive communication methods, how to support positive behaviour, and how individuals with autism can be supported to live healthy and fulfilled lives.

You will have 1-1 support from an assessor within the health and social care department. Your assessor is occupational competent and will support and work with you throughout the qualification period.

What else do I need to know?

To be awarded the Level 2 Understanding Autism Certificate, you will be required to successfully complete six mandatory units:

  • Unit 01 Introduction to autism
  • Unit 02 Using a person-centred approach to support individuals with autism
  • Unit 03 Communication and social interaction in individuals with autism
  • Unit 04 Sensory processing, perception and cognition in individuals with autism
  • Unit 05 Supporting positive behaviour in individuals with autism
  • Unit 06 Supporting individuals with autism to live healthy and fulfilled lives

There are no formal entry qualifications for the Level 2 Understanding Autism Certificate.

This course will take you seven months to complete.

Aged 19+?

If you do not qualify for funding this course will cost you £462.

Please note that all fees are subject to change.

This course is assessor led. You will be assessed by a qualified assessor on a monthly basis throughout the duration of the course.

Completion of this qualification could lead onto the Level 2 Care Diploma.
