Course Summary

This Level 2 Understanding Nutrition and Health Certificate is designed for anyone who has an interest in Nutrition and Health and improving and maintaining their health and wellbeing. It helps to identify how attitudes towards food can influence and impact on wellbeing. It is ideal for Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for those working in, or looking to find employment in the health and social care sector.

The qualification looks to increase your knowledge and understanding in the following areas:

  • Principles of healthy eating
  • Nutritional needs of a variety of individuals
  • Using food and nutrition information to plan a healthy diet
  • Principles of weight management
  • Eating disorders and food safety for the home environment

You will have 1-1 support from an assessor within the health and social care department. Your assessor is occupational competent and will support and work with you throughout the qualification period.

What else do I need to know?

During the Level 2 Understanding Nutrition and Health Certificate you will study six key units:

  • Unit 1 - Explore principles of healthy eating
  • Unit 2 - Consider nutritional needs of a variety individuals
  • Unit 3 - Use food and nutrition information to plan a healthy diet
  • Unit 4 - The principles of weight management
  • Unit 5 - Understanding eating disorder
  • Unit 6 - Principles of food safety for the home environment
There are no formal entry qualifications for the Level 2 Understanding Nutrition and Health Certificate.
This course will take you seven months to complete.

If you do not qualify for funding this course will cost you £406.

Please note that all fees are subject to change.

This course is assessor led. You will be assessed by a qualified assessor on a monthly basis throughout the duration of the course.
Completion of this course will enable you to progress onto a Level 3 course at the college.
