Course Summary
The Pre-Supported Internship is designed for students who are working to develop the essential skills needed for employment. The programme is designed to equip you with the confidence and capabilities to succeed in your chosen pathway, while also giving you the opportunity to experience an extended workplace placement.
The Pre-Supported Internship programme is built around 3 key aspects; developing key employability skills, workplace experience and preparing you for a Supported Internship or workplace progression, giving you the opportunity to boost your confidence in an environment that supports your pathway.
What else do I need to know?
You will take part in 4 RARPA-based learning projects aimed at building confidence and skills to support your learning, transition into employment, and next steps, these include:
- Project 1: Induction for employment
- Project 2: Employability skills
- Project 3: Work ready skills
- Project 4: Personal development
Additionally, Functional Skills in English and Maths are integrated into the course, helping you build the essential literacy and numeracy skills needed for both employment and further education.
There are no formal entry qualifications for The Pre-Supported Internship, but completion of The Independence for Life (RARPA) or a Carousel Programme may be beneficial to some learners.
The Pre-Supported Internship will take you 1 year to complete. You will attend college for 3 days per week at our Rochford Campus in Boston, with at least one day a week in a supported workplace.
The Independence for Life (RARPA) course is free for those who are:
- Under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course
- Aged 19+ and on an EHCP
You will be assessed by portfolio booklets and on the completion of a work placement.
Successful completion of The Pre-Supported Internship can support progression onto a Supported Internship, employment, or further study within a Level 1 vocational course.
