Course Summary

The Initial and Periodic Electrical Inspection and Testing (City and Guilds) Award Level 3 (2391-52) qualification helps you to develop the knowledge and practical skills required to professionally carry out inspection and testing on electrical installations.

What else do I need to know?

This qualification delivers the specialist knowledge and skills you need, including appropriate legislation, inspection and testing techniques, completing and issuing certificates or reports and understanding of results and measurements.

To study the Inspection and Testing (City and Guilds) Award Level 3, you must:

  • Be 21 years old or above
  • Be a practising electrician
  • Have a good and up-to-date understanding of BS 7671: IET Wiring Regulations
 

Alongside the above requirements, it is strongly recommended that you have:

  • An up-to-date 18th Edition Certificate
  • 6 months of inspection and testing experience

The Initial and Periodic Electrical Inspection and Testing (City and Guilds) Award Level 3 (2391-52) course will take you 5 days to complete (plus an additional assessment day if needed) at our Rochford Campus in Boston.

The Inspection and Testing (City and Guilds) Award Level 3 will cost £1050 per person, plus a £95 exam fee per person.

Practical resits cost £150 and online resists cost £25.

Please note that all fees are subject to change.

You will be assessed via:

  • An open book, short-answer question exam (1 hour and 20 minutes)
  • A visual inspection task of photos (30 minutes)
  • An online, multiple-choice exam (2 hours)
  • A practical assessment (2.5 hours)

Successfully completing this qualification can support your application for the JIB Gold card.
