The Pearson BTEC Level 5 Higher National Diploma (HND) in Computing builds on the knowledge learnt at HNC, by providing greater breadth and specialisation. The HND course is the equivalent to the second year of a University Degree.
The structure of the programme provides an innovative and creative curriculum that will prepare you for employment in the IT sector. A key advantage of the course is that it allows flexible progression onto a Degree in Computing or employment.
To achieve the Computing HND you will be required to study two mandatory units, alongside five optional units which will be selected for your. The structure of the programme provides an innovative and creative curriculum.

The course is delivered using a balance between practical and theory. We include e-learning, one-to-one support, events and speakers.
The Computing HND will take you two years to complete. You will attend College two days a week, 9:30am-4:30pm. Independent study will also be necessary.
The HND can also be studied as a one-year top-up if you already hold a relevant HNC.
The Computing and Systems Development HND course fees will be:
HNC, Year 1 (2019) - £5550
HND, Year 2 (2020) - £5550

The assessment of Pearson BTEC Higher National qualifications is in the form written assignments, which are assessed against the unit learning outcomes and assessment criteria.
All units are individually graded as Pass, Merit or Distinction. A Pass is awarded for the achievement of all outcomes against the specified assessment criteria. Merit and Distinction grades are awarded for higher-level achievement.
The BTEC HNC and HND qualifications are highly valued by employers and can lead to careers in Computing and systems development. The qualifications also offer a progression route to the professional qualifications offered by organisations like the British Computer Society (BCS).
A key progression path for Pearson BTEC HND learners is to the third year of a degree or honours degree programme depending on the degree in question.
