Exploring the World on Campus: Culture and Diversity Day at Boston College
12th June 2026
Boston College recently brought its community together for a vibrant and engaging Culture and Diversity Day, celebrating the wide range of backgrounds, traditions, and perspectives that make up the college.
The event saw students and staff take part in a variety of interactive activities designed to promote cultural awareness and inclusion. Highlights included an African drumming workshop led by external musician Milla Hanna, traditional Lithuanian dancing delivered in partnership with the Boston Lithuanian Community UK, and a diverse selection of international foods enjoyed across campus.
Culture and Diversity Day provided an opportunity for the college community to come together, learn from one another, and celebrate the global influences that shape everyday life at Boston College. The event created a welcoming space for cultural exchange, encouraging greater understanding and appreciation between students and staff.
Reflecting on the event, Adam Wardell, Assistant Principle: SEND and Inclusion said,
‘’It’s inspiring to see our students actively shaping Culture and Diversity Day—celebrating their own identities while fully engaging with and learning from others. The continued growth of this event reflects not only increasing participation, but a genuine curiosity, respect, and openness that defines our college community. It’s a powerful example of students leading the way in embracing diversity and creating an inclusive environment for all’’.
The day is part of Boston College’s effort to build a welcoming environment where every student feels included and supported. Events like Culture and Diversity Day help the college promote equality, diversity, and a stronger sense of community.
Axel Sedgwick, Student Enrichment Coordinator at Boston College, said:
“The World Culture and Diversity Day are a day of celebration for our diverse cultures at college, including faiths and religions, sexuality, neurodivergence and ethnicity. Seeing our students express their traditions and customs is wonderful to see and the atmosphere for students is incredible. The day allows students to experience new things and develop an understanding for other cultures in a fun, engaging, and inclusive way.”
Boston College extends its thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of the day, from organisers and performers to students and staff who took part and shared their cultures.
