Course Summary

The Level 3 Plumbing and Heating T Level is designed to equip you with the essential skills in basic plumbing and building services engineering.

The Level 3 Plumbing and Heating T Level will cover a range of topics including health and safety, construction science, building technology, and sustainability, supporting you to progress onto a career in industry, or on to further higher-level study.

What else do I need to know?

During the Level 3 Plumbing and Heating T Level you will cover a variety or core units including:

  • Health and safety in construction
  • Construction science principles
  • Construction design principles
  • Construction and the built environment industry
  • Construction sustainability principles
  • Construction measurement principles
  • Construction information and data principles
  • Relationship management in construction
  • Digital technology in construction
  • Construction commercial/business principles

You will also study a series of specialist units including:

  • Building services engineering systems
  • Maintenance principles
  • Building technology principles
  • Tools, materials and equipment

The Level 3 Plumbing and Heating T Level includes a 45-day industry placement ensuring you have the chance to gain real, workplace experience while studying your course.

To study the Level 3 Plumbing and Heating T Level, you will need to have a minimum grade 5 or above (old GCSE grade C or above) in English and Maths.

The Level 3 Plumbing and Heating T Level will take you two years to complete. You will attend college 3-4 days per week at our Rochford Campus for classroom and workshop-based learning plus independent learrning.

This T Level course is free if you are under the age of 19 on 31 August of the year you start the course.

You will be assessed through examinations and practical assessments in class and in a project set by employers.

Upon successful completion of the course, you will be awarded an overall grade (pass, merit, distinction or distinction*). A T Level is a nationally recognised qualification and your certificate will reflect this and display your overall grade.

Successful completion of the Level 3 Plumbing and Heating T Level can support you to achieve skilled employment or access further specialist training, higher level apprenticeships, or on to further higher level study.
