Course Summary

The Active IQ Level 3 Technical Occupational Entry in Personal Training (Diploma) equips individuals with the skills, knowledge, and practical competencies needed to enter the fitness industry as a Personal Trainer. This nationally recognised qualification prepares professionals to effectively consult with clients, assess their needs, and design tailored training programmes to help them achieve their fitness goals.

This course opens opportunities to become a self-employed Personal Trainer or seek roles in fitness centres, delivering customised sessions to clients. Ideal for those who have completed the Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification, this qualification supports career advancement in the fitness industry, ranging from working in a gym, building a private client base, or pursuing further professional development.

Completion of this qualification provides students with 10 CIMSPA CPD points.

During the course, you will cover topics including:

  • Nutrition and Physical Activity
  • Consultation and Assessment for Personal Training
  • Plan, Deliver and Evaluate Personal Training
  • Plan, Deliver and Evaluate Outdoor Training
  • Business Acumen for Health and Fitness Professionals
  • Anatomy and Physiology for Exercise and Fitness Professionals

To study this course, you will need to have completed a Level 2 qualification in Gym Instruction, and you must be aged 19+.

Prior knowledge of sport and exercise will be beneficial due to the level of understanding of Anatomy and Physiology required for the qualification.

The Exercise and Fitness (Personal Trainer) Diploma Level 3 will take you approximately 4 months to complete, but this qualification can be completed sooner depending on course progression. You will attend college for 1 day per week at our Peter Paine Centre in Boston.

For those aged 19+, this course will cost: £2225.

Alternatively, you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to help with your College fees. If you progress to employment you won't have to pay anything back until you’re earning £25,000 per year. Your household income isn't taken into account and there's no credit check. Your eligibility depends on your course, nationality, and age. You will be assessed via practical assessments and theory assessments, including a portfolio, video assessments, practical observations, and online assessments.
