The Public Services BSc (Hons) Top-up Level 6 is awarded by the University of Derby and is designed to provide an excellent progression route and develop the knowledge you've already gained on your HND or Foundation Degree in public services with a further stage of study which results in a full honours degree.
Gain the knowledge and understanding needed to succeed in various public services roles. Develop an enhanced understanding of psychological and sociological theories that explain criminal behaviour, including individual influences and socio-economic factors. Explore a deeper knowledge of different perspectives on intimate partner abuse, its impact on victims, and the responses of relevant agencies to such incidents. Prepare for professional roles in public services, such as law enforcement, social work, victim support, and community outreach, by fostering your skills in critical thinking, ethical reasoning, and effective communication.

This includes sharing the application form that you have completed to study this course, and in some instances, copies of your maths, English and highest-level qualification certificate.
The Public Services BSc (Hons) Top-up Level 6 will take you 1 year to complete. You will attend college at our Boston (Rochford) Campus or our Peter Paine Performance Centre in Boston 1 day per week, plus a substantial amount of independent study.
The Public Services BSc (Hons) Top-up Level 6 will cost £7600.

You will be assessed through a variety of methods designed to develop your critical thinking and practical skills, such as critical reflections, presentations, scenario-based observations and reports.
Completion of this course could lead onto further academic study of a Masters Degree or employment within both the uniformed and non-uniformed public services sector, such as the local or county councils, wellbeing officers, the police or justice system and supportive local agencies.
Keep in mind that some roles may require a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, though this is not necessary for all positions.
