The Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Operators (Knowledge) is the next step in Motorsport following from the level 1 Motorsport (Automotive Engineering) Diploma.

It blends an introduction to Light Vehicle technology whilst exploring the opportunities involved around Motorsport and Karting.

To enrol directly onto this course you must show a desire for motorsport alongside knowledge of the industry, alternatively you may look start your journey on our Motorsport Diploma Level 1 to develop your knowledge and skills that are required to study this Level 2 course.

What will I do?

You will study light vehicle systems that include engines, steering, suspension, braking, alongside health & safety and have an introduction to engineering equipment & materials.

Alongside the above you will continue to gain an understanding of Motorsport studying content linked to the National Motorsport Association.

The course is a great mix of both theory and practical, allowing you time in our workshops and classrooms to experience the world of Motorsport. You will also develop your skills for employment, exploring different careers and employers.

You will have the opportunity to visit several employers and educational establishments to enhance your learning and experience the different careers and environments available within the industry.

In addition to your course, you may also need to study either Functional Skills or GCSE English and Maths, dependent on your GCSE grades.

Introduction of Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Technology.

Entry requirements are four GCSEs at grade 3 or above (Old GCSE grade E or above) or equivalent (to include English or maths). Other vocational qualifications may also support entry requirements.

The Level 2 Motorsport Diploma will take you one year to complete. You will attend college for at least three days a week.

The course is free, if you are under the age of 19 on 31 August of the year you start the course.

If you are aged 19+, this course will cost £1500.

Successful completion of each unit is achieved by passing online exams and competence (practical) assessments.

Successful completion of the Level 2 Diploma will allow you to progress onto a Level 3 course to enable you to progress further within the Motorsport, Motor Vehicle or Engineering industry.

Additional costs include:

  • Corporate work wear, which includes polo shirts, overalls and safety footwear
  • Cost of educational visits
