Course Summary
This course is ideal for beginners and will provide you with an introduction to the sewing machine, needles, and fabrics. You will learn what the different stitches on the machine do and complete samples of hems, buttonholes, and seams. You will learn two types of zip placements and how to applique so that you can make your very own tote bag.
You will need to bring your own sewing machine, scissors (both for paper and fabric) pins, thread, and general sewing items. We will supply the fabric.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.
The course will take you 12 hours to complete, over 6 weekly sessions. You will attend college from 1:00pm - 3:00pm at our Spalding Campus, starting on Tuesday 6th January 2026.
This course is fully funded, meaning you won’t have any course fees to pay.p>
