Employer Engagement

Boston College offers a consultancy style approach to working with regional businesses, meaning employers can be offered so much more than just an essential training course or a new apprentice. For example, the College's Business Development Team will look to identify any funding support, grants or specialist advice available in your sector.

Boston College also works with employers from small start-up businesses to multinational corporations across almost every sector. The College is committed to your success - it is essential to create better future opportunities for all our learners.

Train Your Existing Staff

The options are now wider than ever to train your teams and take your business forward. Apprenticeships are increasingly seen as a highly cost-effective tool to create key technicians and managers of the future and not just for entry level recruitment.

Boston College's Higher Level Apprenticeship programme continues to develop alongside management courses that can be either nationally accredited or designed to meet a specific business need. The College can also help you measure progress using a range of tools, so the benefits of your investment in training your staff become clear.

Networking and Events

Boston College's employer events bring together key members from the regional economy and inspirational speakers from the world of business, support organisations and government. By targeting crucial issues, such as technology, recruitment, marketing, finance and apprenticeships, the events can also help make valuable connections and stay ahead of the competition.

By gaining support for these events it helps the College understand your skills needs, which in turn means the College can shape teaching to ensure these are met.

Employer FAQs

How can Boston College help my business?

Boston College trains hundreds of apprentices working in a variety of different roles. The College offers technical training for trades-people, health and safety training to meet statutory requirements, and a suite of e-commerce and management courses to help businesses grow. The College also enjoys strong links with employers through work experience, providing conference facilities, traineeships and business network events which are held in Boston and Spalding.

Yes, incentive funding is available for apprentices, subject to their age and the size of the business. Other training courses may be funded by targeted schemes, such as Lincolnshire's Skills Support for the Workforce programme, and members of staff can also apply for learning loans to support them through higher level qualifications. For additional information and advice, please contact the Business Development Team on 01205 313242 or email employers@boston.ac.uk

Yes, of course. Your employee will need to meet the entry requirements of the chosen apprenticeships. All apprentices who don't already have the required level of English and Maths will also need to achieve these, as part of the chosen apprenticeship. In addition, your employee may benefit from some of the College's short courses, which offer excellent value and are delivered locally.

The location of your training will vary, depending on the apprenticeship or course. Training, assessments and review visits can take place within your workplace; however, where particular equipment or IT support is required, these would normally run at either Boston College or Spalding College.

If you would like any additional information or you would like to book a course, please contact our Business Development Team on 01205 313242 or email employers@boston.ac.uk. Boston College's advisers are also more than happy to meet you at your business premises to discuss training opportunities further.
