The celebration also showcased the impact and benefits that apprenticeships can have on our community, local businesses, and regional economies.

This year’s National Apprenticeship Week ran from Monday 5th February until Sunday 11th February, with the theme of ‘Skills for Life’, encouraging everyone to consider how apprenticeships can help individuals to develop the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career, and employers to develop a workforce with future ready skills. The national campaign brings together everyone passionate about apprenticeships to celebrate the value, benefit, and opportunity that they bring.

Boston College kicked off the week with a visit from the NHS Talent Academy, who shared their knowledge and expertise within Medical and Clinical, Admin and Clerical and Engineering and Digital disciplines. Followed by a ‘Meet the Employers Day’ on Tuesday where a variety of local employers were invited into the College to speak to learners about being an apprentice and the opportunities within their sector and business. Businesses in attendance included Aaron Services Limited, Lincolnshire Highways Partnership/Balfour, Coveris, Lincolnshire Housing Partnership, South & East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership, MicronClean, National Trust, Port of Boston, Women’s Aid and UBU Environmental Ltd.

Adding to the buzz on campus, the British Army joined the College on Wednesday, sharing an inspiring session on the apprenticeships available within the forces. Rounding off the week was LiNCHigher’s Higher Degree Apprenticeship talk on Thursday, and on Friday, the College’s Apprenticeship team hosted a one-to-one Q&A session with learners to help them explore pathways suitable for their career goals.

Thank you to Claire Hall and the Apprenticeship Team for organising the running of this week’s events with support from LiNCHigher.
