This one day course is aimed at caterers and other food handlers and will involve learning about food safety in the storage, preparation, cooking, service and handling of food.

The topics are regarded by the Foods Standards Agency as being important to maintaining good practice.

What will I do?

During the course, you will cover a variety of topics including:

  • Common food hygiene terminology
  • Know about food law and legislation
  • Know how contamination can be prevented and controlled
  • Understand food storage and preservation
  • Know the importance of personal hygiene
  • Understand how to keep premises and equipment clean

There are no formal entry qualifications for this course.

However, it is expected that you are working in the Catering or Hospitality industry.

The course will take you one day to complete on Wednesday 16th October 2024. You will attend Boston College Rochford Campus between 9:00am and 4:00pm.

This course will cost £85. This cost will cover your exam fee and materials.

Please note that all fees are subject to change.

The day will conclude with a multiple choice examination and successful candidates will receive a certificate issued by the City & Guilds Awarding Body. The examination will consist of 40 questions, of which 28 must be correct. One hour is allowed to complete this examination.

Successful completion would enable candidates to progress onto higher awards within Supervising Food Safety in Catering.
