Early Year’s Students ‘Play in the Park’

Boston College’s Early Years and Schools department hosted a ‘Play in the park’ event for local nurseries with over 90 children from the community taking part. The weather was kind, as the children enjoyed taking part in the activities planned by our Early Years students. Activities ranged from going on a bear hunt to seed planting, junk modelling and transient art.

The event provided a wealth of experience for students including planning and evaluating the event and employer engagement. The day also provided the students with the opportunity to develop a range of skills and use the knowledge gained in College in a real life setting.

Joanna Adbulla from Tumble Totz Day Nursery said, ‘Both children and staff thoroughly enjoyed the activities on offer and the students were a pleasure to work with. They were really outgoing, showed a willingness to engage with the
children, get down to their level and initiate conversations. A big well done to all.’
