Bourne Grammar School Make it Three Years in a Row as Elite Eleven Champions

After the successful return of the competition in 2021, today (Thursday 24th November) saw Boston College’s annual sporting event, Elite Eleven, take place with this year’s title going to Bourne Grammar School.

After taking home the Team Award in both 2019 and 2021, Bourne Grammar made it three years in a row when they lifted the trophy again at this year’s competition.

Elite Eleven is an inter-school sporting competition involving secondary schools from around the county, competing against each other in a variety of indoor sporting challenges. The event highlights the incredible commitment, teamwork and motivation of many young learners and raises aspirations for all those involved.

Each team was made up of 11 learners from years 10 and 11, all competing for the coveted team award trophy. The top three teams also received individual prizes, including vouchers donated by our event sponsors, Fresh Kicks.

The competition also saw a special guest appearance from former Boston College learner, and World Champion Body Builder, Joshua-Blue Majury. Josh provided support and coaching to the learners, as well as delivering an inspiring presentation on his journey to becoming a World Champion. Josh was crowned Pro Overall World Champion in 2017, 2018 and 2019, and has dedicated himself since then to helping others get the results, they want through his online coaching service.

Speaking during the competition, Josh said, “As a previous learner at Boston college, I’m excited to share my lessons, wins, successes, and motivations with all the learners in what has been a fantastic Elite Eleven competition. Honoured to be a part of it.”

After an eventful day, the scores were tallied up and prizes were awarded to the top three teams. 1st place went to Bourne Grammar School, 2nd place to Haven High Academy, and 3rd place to Cowley Academy.

Mark Bridges, Boston College Sports Lecturer said, “It has been really pleasing to see the effort, determination, and teamwork that has been on display throughout today. All participants have embraced each activity and shown a high level of skill and physical abilities to complete the events. Elite Eleven provides a great opportunity for learners to step outside of their comfort zone and work together to achieve the same goal. I would like to congratulate all competitors and highlight the support of our sponsors.”
