This course has been designed to deliver a high level of occupational skills and provide a platform from which to progress through further learning to an apprenticeship programme or into employment. This vocational route at Level 2 is a vital step towards becoming a competent plumber.

What will I do?

This qualification will help you gain an understanding of the skills required within the plumbing sector. You will cover compulsory aspects such as:

  • Health & safety and industry practices
  • Electric & scientific principles
  • Hot water / Cold water
  • Sanitation & drainage
  • Central heating
  • Plumbing processes

To study the Technical Certificate in Plumbing Level 2, you will need Maths and English GCSEs at grade 4 or above for direct entry or a relevant level 1 qualification.

The Plumbing Technical Certificate will take one year to complete. Starting in September 2024 you will attend college for up to four days a week.

The Plumbing Technical Certificate is free, if you are under the age of 19 on 31 August of the year you start the course.

During this course, you'll be assessed through an end-of-year exam and practical synoptic exercise.

Upon successful completion of this course, you will have the opportunity to progress into industry

  • Mandatory PPE – Safety footwear and Cargo/work trousers
  • Recommended workwear - Boston College branded corporate workwear. We have a nominated supplier who can supply a ‘workwear pack’ which consists of the mandatory workwear, 2 branded polo shirts and a sweatshirt for approx. £78+ VAT. Please speak to a member of staff for more details
