The Level 2 Hairdressing Diploma is a nationally recognised qualification and prepares you for employment in the hairdressing industry as a junior stylist.
The course is based at Boston College Spalding, which have fully equipped hairdressing salons that are open to the public.
The Level 2 Hairdressing Diploma is broken down into a number of units which cover a full range of practical hairdressing skills and essential knowledge including -

The entry qualifications for the Level 2 Hairdressing Diploma are a minimum of four GCSEs at grade 4 or above (Old GCSE grade C or above) including Maths and English. Along with a completed a Level 1 Hairdressing qualification, although this is not essential.
If you have a Grade 2 or below in English or maths, you can study towards either a PASS in Functional Skills Level 2 or a GCSE grade 4-9. Once you have achieved either qualification, you will not be required to undertake any further English or maths.
Full time 16-19 learner with a Grade 3, must study towards a GCSE grade 4-9.
Progression to Level 2 is dependent on minimum of 90% attendance, Successful completion of a Hairdressing Level 1 qualification if appropriate, satisfactory report from all tutors, acceptable behaviour and attitude, ability to progress, ability to meet deadlines and successful selection at interview.
You will be required to attend an interview and possibly a trade test and complete an assignment.
The Hairdressing Diploma will take you one year to complete. You will attend College for a minimum of four days a week, 9:00am – 4:30pm.
The minimum course attendance requirement set by the college is 92%.
The Hairdressing Diploma is free, if you are under the age of 19 on 31 August of the year you start the course.
If you are aged 19+, this course will cost £1500.

Successful completion of the Hairdressing Diploma should enable you to apply for the following - general employment in hairdressing salons, mobile hairdresser, salon owner.
You will also be able to apply for a place on the Level 3 Hairdressing course, full time or an Apprenticeship.
Additional costs include purchasing a basic hairdressing equipment kit (£180 approx.) which will include everything needed for practical lessons.
Tunic overalls are compulsory, you will be provided with an order form during induction (£46 approx.).
Barbering head (£30 approx.).
You will need lever arch A4 folders, dividers, plastic wallets and general stationery.
There are a number of educational visits arranged which you are encouraged to attend at a minimal cost, usually around £30 each trip.
A number of short courses are also arranged for you on this course and often a small fee is charged (these are optional extras).
