This part-time course is for you if English is not your first language.

There are three parts to the qualification: Reading Award; Speaking and Listening Award; and Writing Award.

If you complete all three Awards, you will be awarded a Certificate in ESOL at the level you are studying.

You will be assessed before you start your course to determine which level is most suitable for you. There are five levels:

  • Entry 1 (beginner)
  • Entry 2 (elementary)
  • Entry 3 (pre-intermediate)
  • Level 1 (intermediate)
  • Level 2 (upper-intermediate)

What will I do?

You will engage in conversations with on a variety of topics with your teacher and classmates, work on your reading and listening comprehension skills, learn grammar and sentence structure, develop your vocabulary, and practice writing sentences, paragraphs and essays.

At entry level you will also be able to study the Living and Working in the UK course which will add to your language course and develop your knowledge of key parts of British life and culture.

There are no formal entry qualifications for the ESOL course.

The Part Time ESOL Certificate will take you 10 sessions to complete. Starting on the below dates, you will attend our Boston Campus between 6:00pm and 9:00pm.

  • Tuesday 7th October 2025
  • Tuesday 27th January 2026
  • Tuesday 21st April 2026

Please note that other times to attend this course are available depending on demand. Please enquire for more information.

If you can provide evidence that you are a UK resident or have settled or pre-settled status, the fees are as follows:

  • Reading Award - £150 plus £30 exam fee
  • Speaking and Listening Award - £150 plus £30 exam fee
  • Writing Award - £150 plus £30 exam fee
You might not have to pay these fees depending on your earnings.

If you don’t have UK residency or settled or pre-settled status, the fees are as follows:

  • Reading Award - £300 plus £30 exam fee
  • Speaking and Listening Award - £600 plus £30 exam fee
  • Writing Award - £450 plus £30 exam fee

You will be assessed through external assessments/ exams, portfolio (written, videoed, audio recorded), case studies, role play practical

Successful completion of this course could lead to further training, opportunities to progress your career or better employment opportunities.
