This NCFE CACHE Level 2 Introducing Caring for Children and Young People Diploma will give you a basic understanding of childcare and education. It is both knowledge and skills based to help you to make informed choices about working with children and young people.

What will I do?

During the Level 2 Introducing Caring for Children and Young People Diploma you will complete a range of units covering:

  • Child Development
  • Supporting Learning
  • Health and Safety
  • Supporting Routines

You will undertake a small placement element where you will need to demonstrate your commitment to working with children and young people. This course does not provide a qualification to work in early years, however you will begin to develop these skills so that you can progress into further study or employment later.

The entry requirements for the Level 2 Introducing Caring for Children and Young People Diploma are five GCSEs at grade 2 or above (Old GCSE grade E or above), preferably in English and Maths (or equivalent) or an Entry 3 qualification.

If you are unable to meet these entry qualifications, an alternative course is the 'Caring for Children Diploma Level 1'.

The Level 2 Introducing Caring for Children and Young People Diploma will take you one year to complete. You will attend college for three days a week.

The Introducing Caring for Children and Young People Diploma is free, if you are under the age of 19 on 31 August of the year you start the course.

If you are aged 19+, this course will cost Β£1500.

Fee remission may apply depending on personal circumstances, please enquire with the Registry Department for further information on 01205 365701 or email your query to fees@boston.ac.uk.

Please note that all fees are subject to change.

All units are assessed internally using coursework. Some units also require you to demonstrate your ability during practical work with children.
