If you've ever dreamed of a rewarding career where you can make a positive impact on young lives, our Education and Childcare T Level is the perfect stepping stone for you. This course is tailor-made for individuals like you who aspire to excel in the childcare industry and are eager to shape the future of our young people.
Our T Level (Technical qualification) is your gateway to a bright future. We're here to equip you with the knowledge and skills essential to excel in skilled employment, embark on higher-level technical training, or even kickstart your journey towards a university program within the education sector. The Education and Childcare T Level is your key to a wealth of opportunities, providing you with a strong foundation for success in this dynamic field.
During this course, you'll delve deep into the core skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in the world of education and childcare. You'll master the art of collaboration and working effectively with others, sharpen your observation skills, and gain a comprehensive understanding of child development. But that's not all; you'll also embark on a thrilling industry placement adventure, lasting at least 45 days. This real-world experience will immerse you in the day-to-day realities of the profession, allowing you to put your newfound knowledge into practice.
But it doesn't stop there! We're committed to nurturing well-rounded professionals. You'll have the opportunity to enhance your mathematical, English, and digital skills – crucial tools in today's competitive job market.
The qualification carries a ‘License to Practice’, which means you will be qualified as a Level 3 Early Years Educator, enabling you to work unsupervised with children.
There are 2 occupational specialisms within the qualification, which are: Early Years Educator, and Assisting Teaching, both of which will consist of both classroom-based and practical learning.
You will study and learn all the key aspects of child development and how to support children's development. You will learn about the importance of health and wellbeing for children, how to support equality and promote diversity, how to work with families and professionals and how to support children with special educational needs and disability. As part of the course, you will undertake 750 hours of placement in an early years setting. This will enable you to become confident in your work with children and will support progression to higher education as you will gain key skills from your placement experiences, which is valued by universities.
To study the Early Years T Level with us at Boston College you will need an overall GCSE grade profile of 4’s and above, including grade 5 in English Language, grade 5 in Maths and a Science.
You must have a keen interest in working across the Education and Childcare Sector and a willingness to work with T Level Progression standards.
The Early Years T Level will take you 2 years to complete. Starting in September 2025, you will attend out Boston Campus (Rochford).
The Early Years and Education T Level is free, if you are under the age of 19 on 31 August of the year you start the course.

Synoptic Assignments:
In this component, you'll complete a series of synoptic assignments. These assignments are designed to assess your ability to integrate knowledge and skills from various areas of your chosen pathway. They provide a comprehensive view of your capabilities in your specific area of expertise.
Your performance in the Occupational Specialism Component will contribute to your overall T Level qualification, reflecting your proficiency and readiness to excel in your chosen specialization within the education and childcare field.
