If you are wanting to improve your knowledge and skills of Special Educational Needs and Disability, either for personal or professional development, this course is for you. It will consider many aspects of SEND, looking at the symptoms of specific conditions and how they may affect individuals in their daily life. It will also examine relevant legislation and guidance applicable to individuals with SEND.
It has the added benefit of being a nationally recognised Level 2 qualification and demonstrates your competency to employers and can be used to update and continue your professional development, (CPD).
You will study:
Unit 1: Three sections which explore a range of SEND conditions and their causes. Investigate the social and medical models of disability. Learn about the barriers individuals with SEND may face and positive changes which have occurred over time in relation to SEND.
Unit 2: Four sections covering equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace, community, and wider society. Explore relevant legislation and guidance. Learn about safeguarding and the different types of abuse.
Unit 3: Three sections which highlight the person-centred approach and the importance of active participation and well-being.
Unit 4: Four sections exploring different learning styles and programmes used within educational settings. Look at reasonable adjustments and consider Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans.
