Performing Arts HND Level 5
Achieve your entrepreneurial, employment or academic aspirations with the Pearson BTEC Performing Arts HND Level 5. Crafted with the help of industry experts, you will explore how to balance creativity and technical ability with essential knowledge and employability skills. Dive deep into the traditional and new technologies in areas of performing arts,, while enhancing your learning and preparing for the demands of the workplace. Develop both technical and transferable skills, including critical thinking, creative thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication. Graduate with the confidence to deliver high quality outcomes, lead projects, manage teams, and respond to changes in dynamic creative environments.
You can choose to study one of the following four specialist pathways:
- Technical Arts
- Acting
- Dance
- Musical Theatre
What will I do?
During your first year, you will study a Level 4 HNC. Upon successful completion of the first year, you will then progress on to the second year to study the Level 5 HND.
Modules Include:
- The Performing Arts Industry
- Professional Development
- Creative Research Project
- Working in the Performing Arts Industry
Throughout this course, you will develop confidence in areas such as:
- Idea and Concept Development
- Performance and Rehearsal Skills
- Media Creation and Development
- Event Management
- Marketing and Promotion
- Employment and Entrepreneurship
Entry Qualifications
In order to study the Performing Arts HND Level 5, you will need to have successfully completed:
- An MMP at Level 3 in a related subject, or Access to Higher Education qualification, or an A Level equivalent (minimum 80 new UCAS points) in related subjects
- GCSEs in English and Maths at grade 4 (C) or above, or Functional Skills Level 2 and/or minimum IELTS score of 6
Relevant work experience may be considered if you do not meet the above criteria.
Attendance
The Performing Arts HND Level 5 will take you 2 years to complete. You will attend college for 2-3 days per week at our Sam Newson Centre in Boston, plus approximately 24 hours of independent study per week.
Fees
The Performing Arts HND Level 5 will cost £7100 per year.
You can apply for a student loan to cover the costs of course fees. You may also be able to apply for various grants and loans to support your learning. Specific advice regarding student loans and other benefits can be obtained from www.gov.uk/student-finance.

How Will I Be Assessed
Assessment is via a variety of methods, including creative practical projects, assignments, and portfolios.
The assessment of Pearson's Higher National qualifications are criterion-referenced and you will provide evidence in the form of assignments, which are assessed against the unit learning outcomes and assessment criteria.
Where Could It Lead?
The Pearson HND courses are highly valued by employers and can lead to careers specialisms. Progression onto an undergraduate degree or further professional qualifications in a related area are possible.
