Elite Eleven Celebrates Teamwork and Achievement at Boston College
Bourne Grammar School took the top prize for a sixth year at Boston College’s annual sporting event, Elite Eleven.
Elite Eleven is an inter-school sports competition bringing together secondary schools from across the county to compete in a range of indoor sporting and problem-solving challenges. The event highlights the incredible commitment, teamwork and motivation of many young students and raises aspirations for all those involved.
Held once again at the College’s Peter Paine Performance Centre, 11 schools from around the county battled against each other with Bourne Grammar School taking home the coveted Boston College Team Award ahead of 2nd placed Spalding Academy and 3rd placed Bourne Academy.
Alongside team prizes for those schools – which included a two-hour session at Jump Inc. an Escape Room experience and a Gaming Arcade session – were prizes celebrating Work Ethic, Sportsmanship, and Most Improved which were handed out by special guest Josh-Blue Majury.
Josh, a former Boston College student, is a 4x World Champion Body Builder and was present throughout the day to offer support and coaching to students. Having won his most recent World Championship in 2023, Josh also gave a presentation on his journey to becoming a World Champion as well as how he continues to use his skills, tutoring people through his online coaching service.
Speaking during the competition, Josh said, “As a previous student at Boston College, I’m always excited to share my lessons, wins, successes, and motivations with all the students in what has been a fantastic Elite Eleven competition. Everyone truly showed their best efforts on the day, I am honoured to be a part of it again.”
Following his presentation, he awarded Haven High Academy as his Team of the Day, while Kirkstone House School won the Work Ethic Award and Bridge House School was named Most Improved.
Adam Wardell, Director of Learning for Health and Care Industries had this to say after an exciting day of activities, “The Elite 11 event was a fantastic celebration of teamwork, resilience, and community spirit. Pupils from 11 local schools joined forces to tackle a series of physical and mental challenges, showcasing the incredible power of collaboration. Congratulations to our top three schools, and a special thank you to our guest, Josh for sharing his inspiring journey that started at Boston College, and motivating everyone to strive for their best. Whilst we celebrate the winners, it’s important to recognise that every participant excelled, demonstrating outstanding effort, determination, and team spirit – truly making this event a success for all involved.”
