Miles turn into smiles!

It is well known that physical activity can enhance our mental wellbeing as well as increasing our overall health, and right about now we could do with a boost to our overall wellbeing. So, turning miles into smiles is a win on both accounts!

This is why Boston College is aiming to cover 2021 miles before 1st July 2021, as part of the BRIT 2021 Challenge. A challenge organised by the British Inspiration Trust (BRIT), aimed at supporting young adults’ mental health in the short, medium and long-term.

The purpose of the challenge is to raise funds for Nightline, PAPYRUS – Prevention of Young Suicide, Student Minds, The British Inspiration Trust and The Charlie Waller Trust. Individual charities, all united in supporting young adult mental health.

We are calling on all staff and students to help us by walking, jogging, running, cycling, hand-cycling, wheelchair pushing, swimming, rowing or paddling their way to a combined 2021 miles! However, it cannot be stressed enough that whilst partaking in the suggested activities it is done so whilst observing and abiding by all current guidance and legislation set out by the UK Government during the COVID-19 pandemic.

If you are not a staff member or student, you can still be part of the amazing challenge by donating! Donations are taken through a Virgin Money Giving page (Link here). There is no amount too large or small and every penny donated will be shared equally between the charities. Not only will your donation support the amazing work that these charities perform, but it will also motivate and uplift those who are participating.

So, what are you waiting for? Start clocking those miles, start donating to an amazing cause and most importantly, SMILE!
