To celebrate your academic achievements during your time at Boston College, we're pleased to invite you to graduate on Thursday 14th July 2022.

Your ceremony will be taking place at St Botolph’s Church, Church Close, Boston, PE21 6NW.

You must pass at Academic Board to attend your graduation.

Registration and Ticket Booking

Registrations have now closed. It's nearly time to Graduate! 

If you have already registered for your place at graduation, good news, there are extra guests tickets still available, let us know how many extra tickets you require and the names of the extra guests by email so that we can get these reserved for you.

You reserved tickets will be sent out in the post prior to the ceremony.

Preparing for your Graduation

Academic Dress - Gowns

Your graduation is a ceremonial event and academic dress is required. All graduands must wear a Boston College Hood, Bachelors Gown and Mortarboard with smart clothing underneath. We recommend that you bring hairgrips to secure your mortarboard.

Gown hire has now closed, if you have not yet reserved your gown for Graduation please get in touch via email as soon as possible.

Gowns must be ordered from Churchill Gowns, pre-ordering your gown is essential as this will be delivered directly to you prior to the ceremony. You can find further information on gown hire here.

You will need to hire/purchase a Boston College Hood, Bachelors Gown and Mortarboard.

Jeans, t-shirts, trainers and other casual attire are not considered appropriate for those graduating.

You are advised not to bring large bags and to keep personal belongings to a minimum. Any belongings should be left with guests where possible.

Photography

A professional photographer will be on hand to provide high quality professional studio photographs for you to relive this special occasion. This service will include the option for individual portraits, as well as group pictures with family and friends.

Studio Photography will be based within our Sam Newsom Centre, 28 South Street, Boston, Lincs, PE21 6HT.

You will be required to pre-book a time slot for your photographs, you can do this using the button below.

Accommodation

Should you require any accommodation for the evening prior to or on the day of your graduation for yourself or family and friends, single rooms can be booked within the College's Halls of Residence. These will be charged at a cost of £20pp per night.

There are many other hotels within the local area which can be booked independently.

What to expect on the day

Arrival Information

Please arrive at Boston College's Sam Newsom Centre, 28 South Street, Boston, Lincolnshire, PE21 6HT for 1:30pm on the day of your graduation.

The graduation ceremony will start with a procession through the town centre, departing from Boston College's Sam Newsom Centre ending at St Botolph’s Church.

Graduands are advised to be at the Sam Newsom Centre at least one hour before the ceremony start time. This will allow sufficient time to ensure you are properly gowned and prepared for the procession. Please be aware there will be a lot of people doing the same, so do not leave it to the last minute to avoid queues forming.

If you are unable to process, please ensure you are at St Botolph’s Church before doors close, 15 minutes before the start of your ceremony. Unfortunately, late attendees may be refused entry.

Parking

FREE parking is available from 9:00am until 11:30pm at our Rochford Campus, Skirbeck Road, Boston, Lincs, PE21 6JF (Sat Nav: PE21 6DA).

Restroom facilities will be available within the Boston College University Centre.

Refreshments

Drink refreshments will be provided by Sipwell Events and will be available to guests prior to the ceremony with a bar located outside The Boston Stump.

This will also be accessible to graduates following the ceremony, providing you with one free celebratory drink as well as the option to purchase additional drinks.
