Your Questions Answered...

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions that Boston College have received from parents and carers at Open Events.

What can Boston College offer my child/ward?

Boston College offers a wide range of courses, ranging from academic A levels to vocational courses across a variety of different areas such as bricklaying, hairdressing, sport and uniformed public services. As well as full time courses, the College also offers apprenticeships, for those students who would like to earn while they learn, and traineeships.

As well as a wide range of courses, Boston College can provide a mature learning environment so that your son/daughter/ward can develop their confidence and independence for further study at university or to go into employment.

Each young person has a personal tutor who tracks attendance and progress.

The 'A Guide for Parents' provides contact details for the Programme Area Managers.

You can talk to their tutor or you can contact the Learner Services Team who provide dedicated support services. You can contact them by calling the College's Main Reception on 01205 365701.

Attendance is closely monitored, each week between November and April you will receive an email regarding your child/ward's weekly attendance.

If your child/ward is 18 or under, tutors will contact you if their attendance becomes a concern.

We recommend students submit an application as soon as they can. Our courses are very popular, so the earlier they can secure a place the better.

Once their application form has been submitted, they will be invited to an application review to discuss the course in more details. Your son/daughter/ward can track their application status via their application account.

The College's Application Review is just a friendly chat - they are nothing to worry about. They are to make sure that your child/ward has chosen the right course for them, and for the College to get to know them a little more.

Don't worry, Boston College has a wide range of courses and options available to match your child/ward's exam results. The College is open on GCSE results day where you can come along with your child/ward to discuss all of the options for their next steps in education.
