The level 1 Introductory Diploma is your starting block to developing the key skills required to pursue a career within any of the Public Services whilst increasing your English and Maths and work experience opportunities.
The course will provide you with the opportunity to explore in a practical way, the skills that are required for entry into the Uniformed Public Services. It will give learners the knowledge, understanding and skills that they need to prepare for them for employment. Career opportunities within the Police , Navy, Royal Marines, Security, Army, Royal Air Force, Fire Brigade, Mountain Rescue, Ambulance, Prison Services and Border Patrol can be closer than you realise.
From being upside down in a Kayak, Camping, rock climbing and learning military foot drill to studying security, law, Physical fitness and teamwork, our staff and qualification will get you there.
The Level 1 Introductory Diploma in Public Services will consider aspects of physical fitness and will investigate issues of personal health and well- being, help you develop problem solving skills and carrying out essential map reading and navigation. As part of your time on the course, you will investigate employment opportunities and develop an understanding of the role of the uniformed services.

Other courses may be offered alongside the Diploma such as Award in Exercise Studies and Employability Skills.
If you have a Grade 2 or below in English or maths, you can study towards either a PASS in Functional Skills Level 2 or a GCSE grade 4-9. Once you have achieved either qualification, you will not be required to undertake any further English or maths.
Full time 16-19 learner with a Grade 3, must study towards a GCSE grade 4-9.
Entry requirements are two GCSEs at grades 2 or above (Old GCSE grade E or above) or equivalent (to include English or maths), or any one of the following, an Entry 3 qualification, a Certificate in Skills for Working Life or Life Skills, an ESOL Entry L3 qualification.
If you are unable to meet these entry requirements enrolment onto our Pathways to Progress provision will prepare you for progression into the curriculum area of your choice, either in-year (depending on progress made in the first six weeks) or the following September. We also offer full time ESOL courses which give you opportunity to develop your language skills further prior to progression into the curriculum area of your choice the following September.
The Introductory Diploma in Public Services is free, if you are under the age of 19 on 31 August of the year you start the course.
