The Supply Chain Warehouse Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard is aimed at those currently working in a warehouse environment or looking to start their career in the supply chain and logistics industry.

In addition to gaining industry specific knowledge and skills, you will learn how to better communicate with a wide range of people and customers and become highly competent in using industry-recognised systems and services that are used in traffic and warehouse management.

Completing this Intermediate Apprenticeship will help you gain the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to work effectively as a warehouse operative and give you the springboard needed to progress your career in a variety of roles in this sector.

Taught by industry and time-served specialists, this course is designed to ensure you are able to work as a well-rounded operative who will be an asset to any organisation operating within this vital industry sector.

What will I do?

You will attend a monthly workshop at our Spalding Campus where you will learn:

  • Warehouse practices such as deliveries, despatch, maintaining records, moving stock, pack and storing goods
  • How to use warehouse equipment such as mechanical racking systems and forklifts and pallet trucks
  • How to use basic IT and warehousing management systems and software
  • How to communicate effectively with customers, colleagues, third party carriers and other organisations
  • Health and safety practices, procedures and regulations within a warehouse environment including safe driving and operative techniques and working safely at heights

The entry qualifications for this course is a Grade 3 (or equivalent) in English and maths, however individual cases will be reviewed. As an apprentice you must have an employer and be working in a job role related to this Apprenticeship Standard.

The Supply Chain Warehouse Operative Apprenticeship Level 2 will take you one year to complete with three months preparation for your end point assessment. You will attend College for a monthly workshop at Boston College Spalding Campus.

As an Apprentice, you will pay no course fees. However, your employer may have to pay towards your training as well as providing you with a wage (please see below).

There are different rates of pay for apprentices depending on your age and what year of your apprenticeship you’re in.

Aged 16 to 18.

The current National Minimum Wage rate for an apprentice is £5.28 per hour.

Aged 19 or over and in your first year.

The current National Minimum Wage rate for an apprentice is £5.28 per hour.

Aged 19 or over and have completed your first year.

You’re entitled to the National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage rate for your age.

You will be continually assessed throughout the course against the End Point Assessment criteria which will include observations in the workplace. You will complete a ‘knowledge and behaviour’ test which is based on your learning throughout the programme, and you will carry out a practical assessment which will be observed by an independent assessor.

Progression routes upon completion could include roles such as: warehouse team leader, supply chain practitioner or transport operations planner.
