This Level 1 Introduction to Children and Young People's Development course will introduce the main stages of development, factors which affect development and how to support children and young people’s development.

If you considering a career with children or a parent who would like to understand more about child development, and would like to know more about children’s development, factors which can affect it and how to support this, this course could be for you.

  • Completion of this course can help you progress onto other Early Years and Schools courses for those interested in pursuing a career within the education sector, this course is taught by lecturers with invaluable industry experience.

  • What will I do?

    Introduction to Children and Young People's Development will introduce the main stages of development, factors which affect development and how to support children and young people’s development

    There are no formal entry qualifications for the Level 1 Introduction to Children and Young People's Development course.

    The Level 1 Introduction to Children and Young People's Development course will be studied at our Boston campus, with your initial session running between 9:30am and 12:30pm on one of the below start dates. The course will take a total of two months to complete via remote learning on Microsoft Teams after the initial session.

    Boston Campus

    • Friday 28th October 2022
    • Friday 27th January 2023
    • Friday 14th April 2023

    The introduction to children and young people’s development may be fully funded by the Adult Education Budget should you be eligible under the following criteria:

    • Be aged 19 or older on the 31st of August at the start of the current academic year
    • Be either unemployed and receiving JSA, ESA or Universal Credit (subject to criteria) OR be earning less than £17,374.50 (annual gross salary) a year

    If you do not qualify for funding under the AEB budget this course will cost £84.

    Please note that all fees are subject to change.

    This course will all be assessed via written assignments.

    Completion of this course could lead to progression onto further study at Boston College, including courses such as the Level 1 Preparing to Work in Schools Award, Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or the Level 2 Early Years Practitioner qualification.

    There are no additional costs related to this course.
