The Level 3 (Advanced) Early Years Educator Apprenticeship will provide you with an in depth understanding and knowledge to become Early Years Educators, enabling them to work with children aged from birth to 5 years.

It covers all aspects of the role of an Early Years Educator, including supporting the health and wellbeing of the child, understanding and following legislation and frameworks, engaging in professional practice and supporting the play, development and learning for school readiness.

What will I do?

As an Early Years Educator Apprentice you will be employed in an Early Years setting gaining industry expertise whilst you carry out the role.

You will attend college for half a day per week, during this time you will attend workshops delivered by industry trained staff which will enable you to carry out the written work to complete your qualification and you will be supported to reach the pathway to end point assessment to achieve the standard.

The course comprises of 23 mandatory units, you must also complete the mandatory paediatric first aid. It will take two years to complete including the gateway to end point assessment.

The entry qualifications for the Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship are five GCSEs at grades 4 or above (Old GCSE grade C or above), including English and Maths (or equivalent).

If you are unable to meet these entry qualifications an alternative course within Early Years could be available.

The Early Years Educator Apprenticeship will take you two years to complete. You will study at College for half a day a week, and four and half days with your employer.

The Apprenticeship is an independent learning programme. You will complete a qualification during your training and will be expected to complete assignments on time.

As an Apprentice, you will pay no course fees. However, your employer may have to pay towards your training as well as providing you with a wage (please see below).

There are different rates of pay for apprentices depending on your age and what year of your apprenticeship you’re in.

Aged 16 to 18.

The current National Minimum Wage rate for an apprentice is £5.28 per hour.

Aged 19 or over and in your first year.

The current National Minimum Wage rate for an apprentice is £5.28 per hour.

Aged 19 or over and have completed your first year.

You’re entitled to the National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage rate for your age.

You will be assigned an assessor who will observe your practice in your Early Years setting throughout the duration of your course, your assessor will offer support and guidance and will use a variety of assessment methods to help you achieve the requirements of the qualification and standard.

When yourself, employer and your assessor feel you are ready you will be put forward for the End Point Assessment which will be carried out independently.

You could progress on to a Foundation degree, room leader, Nursery manager, Teacher.
