The Level 3 Gym Instruction and Personal Training Diploma incorporates both the Level 2 Gym Based Exercise Certificate and the Level 3 Personal Training Diploma, enabling you to gain a qualification in personal training for the fitness industry.

The qualification will equip you with the specialist knowledge, understanding and skills to become a successful personal trainer.

This qualification is the industry benchmark of personal training and is aimed at people wanting to personal train individuals, groups and maybe run their own successful business. You will develop practical experience of communicating, assessing and motivating clients with advance methods utilising underpinning knowledge of anatomy, physiology and nutrition.

This qualification can also be used by many organisations within the health and fitness industry and can increase your earning potential through initiatives, sessions, one to ones and classes.

What will I do?

During the Level 3 Gym Instruction and Personal Training Diploma, you will study a range of units from both the Level 2 Gym Based Exercise Certificate and the Level 3 Personal Training Diploma.

Level 2 Gym Based Exercise units include:

  • Health safety and welfare in a fitness environment
  • Know how to support clients who take part in exercise and physical activity
  • Anatomy and physiology for exercise - Exam Unit
  • Planning gym exercise
  • Instructing gym exercise
  • Principles of exercise, fitness and health

Level 3 Personal Training Certificate units include:

  • Advanced exercise and fitness knowledge
  • Cardiovascular training
  • Nutrition and weight management - Exam Unit

Within your qualification students will be expected to a complete a minimum of 30 hours meaningful work experience. The inclusion of this within a student’s study programme will not only provide valuable insights into industry, but also expose students to experiences that can be used to support their CV. Whilst staff will support with this as much as possible, it is hoped that students will find their own opportunities.

There are no formal entry qualifications for the Gym Instruction and Personal Training Diploma Level 3; however, you must be aged 19 years of age or over.

It is also beneficial for you to have prior knowledge of sport and exercise will support your application due to the levels of anatomy and physiology required within the qualification.

Gym Instruction and Personal Training Diploma Level 3 will take you one year to complete at our Peter Paine Performance Centre.

This course will cost £2,225.

The Personal Training Diploma is assessed through workbooks, practical individual work, an assessment of a gym induction, two examinations and online assessments.
