The Level 2 Gym Based Exercise YMCA Certificate is the industry benchmark of gym instruction and deems an instructor safe to train and develop clients. The course will also look at how you may run your own business, when qualified, and prepare you for becoming a personal trainer.
The qualification is designed for students who wish to gain a fitness qualification to further their career aspirations in the fitness industry or prepare them for further training or education.
As well as a standalone qualification, this course is also offered to all sports students on the Sport and Exercise Science Diploma Level 3.
During the Level 2 Gym Based Exercise YMCA Certificate you will cover a range of modules including health and safety, supporting clients, anatomy and physiology, planning and instructing gym exercise.
Teaching and learning will take place in both gym and classrooms.
Within your qualification students will be expected to a complete a minimum of 30 hours meaningful work experience. The inclusion of this within a student’s study programme will not only provide valuable insights into industry, but also expose students to experiences that can be used to support their CV. Whilst staff will support with this as much as possible, it is hoped that students will find their own opportunities.
There are no formal entry qualifications for the Gym Based Exercise YMCA Certificate; however, you must be aged 19 years of age or over.
It is also beneficial for you to have prior knowledge of sport and exercise will support your application due to the levels of anatomy and physiology required within the qualification.
The Gym Based Exercise YMCA Certificate will take you one year to complete at our Peter Paine Performance Centre.
This course will cost £441.
