The Level 2 Subsidiary Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Technology follows on from the Diploma in Transport Maintenance Level 1.

What will I do?

The Level 2 Subsidiary Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Technology is delivered in theory and practical workshops.

It covers health and safety, good housekeeping, job roles within the automotive industry, materials and fabrication and key vehicle systems to include;

  • Health and safety, engines, chassis, braking, suspension and steering.

Delivery of the qualification is supplemented by visits to museums and shows to broaden your perspective of the job opportunities within the automotive industry.

Individual Learning Plans; you will have a personal tutor to help you plan your learning journey on an individual basis. This is your opportunity to plan realistic targets and maximise your potential.

If you have a Grade 2 or below in English or maths, you can study towards either a PASS in Functional Skills Level 2 or a GCSE grade 4-9. Once you have achieved either qualification, you will not be required to undertake any further English or maths.

Full time 16-19 learner with a Grade 3, must study towards a GCSE grade 4-9.

In addition to your main course you will also study.
Award in Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Technology.

The entry qualifications for the Level 2 Subsidiary Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Technology are three GCSEs at grades 3 or above (Old GCSE grade D or above) including English and Maths or successful completion of Level 1 Motor Vehicle Course.

The Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Technology Subsidiary Diploma will take you one year to complete. You will attend college for a minimum of three days a week.

The Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Technology Subsidiary Diploma is free, if you are under the age of 19 on 31 August of the year you start the course.

If you are aged 19+, this course will cost £1500.

Successful completion of each unit is achieved by passing online exams & competence (practical) assessments.

Successful completion of the Level 2 Motor Vehicle Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Technology Subsidiary Diploma allows you to progress on to the Level 3 Motor Vehicle Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair IMI Diploma or apply for an automotive apprenticeship.

Additional costs include purchasing corporate work wear, which includes polo shirts, overalls and safety footwear.
