If you are passionate about film, animation, graphic design, or photography and enjoy working in a creative and exciting environment, then the Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media Skills is the perfect course for you.

You will work within our industry standard creative editing suites and studios to gain experience in many different areas of Media. You will learn how to produce creative films, graphic products, and advertising campaigns, as well as developing your photography skills and learning about different Media products and audiences.

This qualification will allow you to progress to a Level 3 course upon completion, grades depending.

What will I do?

You will study three different modules with a broad, holistic focus; allowing you to develop a wide range of skills before personalising your learning to your career ambitions. These modules are:
Module A: Exploring and Developing Creative Media Skills.
Module B: Personal Development.
Module C: Responding to a Creative Brief.

The skills you will develop include film, video, animation, graphic design and photography, as well as wider transferable skills such as independent working, investigation, problem solving, communication and teamwork.

As a Media student you will have access to all of our facilities, including a HD TV studio and three iMac editing suites, you will also be using industry standard software to create your products.

Work experience will be sourced with local employers to give you real world experiences that relate to the creative sector. You are supported in identifying organisations for your placements, or you can generate these from your own contacts.

You will go on trips to visit places such as the Harry Potter Studios and course related museum visits. You will also have the chance to meet a number of guest speakers who work in different areas of the industry.

If you have a Grade 2 or below in English or maths, you can study towards either a PASS in Functional Skills Level 2 or a GCSE grade 4-9. Once you have achieved either qualification, you will not be required to undertake any further English or maths.

Full time 16-19 learner with a Grade 3, must study towards a GCSE grade 4-9.

The entry qualifications for the Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media Skills are five GCSEs at grades 1 or above (Old GCSE grade G or above) or equivalent, a portfolio of work or a Level 1 qualification and a portfolio of work will be required when you are invited in for a review.

If you do not have a portfolio of work to bring to the interview, you may be set a task to complete within 2 weeks as a condition to enrolment.

If you do not meet the entry requirements or are unsure which of the creative arts you would like to study, the Level 1 Exploring the Creative Arts Extended Certificate could be for you.

The Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media Skills will take you one year to complete. You will attend College three-four days a week, 9:00am-4:30pm, plus independent study.

The Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media Skills is free, if you are under the age of 19 on 31 August of the year you start the course.
