This qualification is designed for learners who want to develop their knowledge and understanding of dementia and dementia care. This qualification enables learners to develop knowledge and understanding of caring for individuals with dementia. Successful completion of the units will allow learners to develop in-depth knowledge and understanding of dementia and its effects.

What will I do?

During the course you will study the following units

  • Types of dementia and the importance of early diagnosis
  • Person-centred approaches in dementia care
  • The role of communication, interaction and inclusion in dementia care and support
  • The use of medication to support individuals with dementia.

There are no formal entry qualifications for this course.

You will complete this course in the workplace.

This course will cost £811.

Aged 19+?
If you are aged 19 years or over on the first day of the course and looking to study a Level 3 qualification, you may qualify for course funding through the Career Learning Scheme. Please be aware that you are liable for the full Career Learning Scheme amount should you cease to attend the course.

If you do not qualify for funding through the Career Learning Scheme, you may qualify for an Advanced Learning Loan to help with your College fees. If you progress to employment, you won't have to pay anything back until you’re earning £25,000 per year. Your household income isn't taken into account and there's no credit check. There will be on-going assessment throughout the course, you will be required to build a portfolio. The tutor may carry out other assessment methods to contribute towards the portfolio.
