The Level 5 Advanced Practitioner in Adult Care Apprenticeship is for Managers, and those who seek to become a Manager in the care industry, it is recognised by the regulator of the care industry Care Quality Commission, as the qualification that will support the skills required as a Manager in the industry.
This qualification is based on the National Occupational Standards (NOS) in Health and Social Care, which were set and designed by Skills for Care and Development, the Sector Skills Council for the sector.
Boston College are endorsed by Skills for Care in the delivery of qualifications. All learners will have access to Moodle system with relevant resources.
The qualification will be delivered within the workplace, learners will need to be observed within their setting completing Management tasks, for example leading a team meeting, staff supervisions, taking part in audits of systems. Theories of Leadership and Management will be explored and linked to practices, reflective learning will be explored and need to be demonstrated. All assessment is carried out by relevant industry assessors.
The apprenticeship is made up of 90 credits incorporating mandatory and optional units, the later being dependant on the type of setting the learner is working in.
There are two pathways for this qualification-
There is a mandatory Research Project incorporating 80 guided learning hours, this must be industry specific.
Evidence will be gathered over the course of the qualification through, observation, work products, written assignments, planned professional discussions, case studies and projects.
Competence-based qualifications are work-based qualifications that give learners the opportunity to develop and demonstrate their competence in the area of work or job role to which the qualification relates.
The Advanced Practitioner in Adult Care Apprenticeship will take you between 18 months and 2 years, six months is recommended for the research project.
The course will be delivered in the workplace, with an expectation to meet monthly with the assessor.
There is no expectation to come into college, however learners will be invited to all relevant industry-based events, learners may meet their assessor at Boston or Spalding Campus.
As an Apprentice, you will pay no course fees. However, your employer may have to pay towards your training as well as providing you with a wage (please see below).

All Apprentices will receive a minimum wage of £3.90 per hour within their first year of training from their employer, although they can, and often do, pay more.
In the second and subsequent years of an Apprenticeship programme, the following applies:
Under 18s – the required national minimum wage of £4.35 per hour.
18–20 year olds - the required national minimum wage of £6.15 per hour.
21-24 year olds - the required national minimum wage of £7.70 per hour.
25 year olds and over – the required national minimum wage of £8.21 per hour.

The apprenticeship is assessed through 40% skills and behaviours assessed through observation, work based evidence and 60% knowledge through research, written work, discussion.
As with all apprenticeships 20% off the job hours will need to be evidenced.
