Hair Dressing and Barbering Certificate Level 1
Add to ShortlistThe purpose of the VTCT Level 1 NVQ Certificate in Hairdressing and Barbering qualification is to provide you with the knowledge, skills and understanding to be a hairdressing or barbering assistant. This qualification is designed for learners aged 16 years or over and has both mandatory and optional units for you to achieve.
What will I do?
The mandatory units are shampoo and condition hair, preparing for hair services and maintaining the work area, contributing to effective working relationships and blow-drying hair. The optional section of this qualification allows you to choose what you would like to study and includes assisting with salon reception duties, assisting with shaving services, assisting with hair colour and lightening services, assisting with perming services, assisting with removing hair extensions and plait and twist hair using basic techniques.

Attendance
Hairdressing and Barbering Level 1 will take you 1 year to complete
Fees
The Hairdressing Diploma is free, if you are under the age of 19 on 31 August of the year you start the course.
How Will I Be Assessed
You will be assess using a combination of practical observations working on both internal and external customers, Assignments and test at the end of each unit studied.

Completion of the Level 1 Hairdressing and Barbering can lead directly onto the following courses.
- Level 2 Hairdressing
- Level 2 Barbering
- Level 2 Hair Professional Apprentice Standard
