This Level 3 Advanced and Creative Hairdressing Apprenticeship provides you with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to work creatively as an employed and/or self-employed hairdresser. This apprenticeship is aimed at those who hold a recognised Level 2 or equivalent hairdressing qualification. This is an optional supporting qualification for the Advanced and Creative Hair Professional Apprenticeship Standard. The completion of this apprenticeship will support the learner’s journey in preparation for the End-point Assessment.

What will I do?

As an Advanced and Creative Hair Professionals you will work towards developing your creativity and skills to become driven professional, who can work without supervision, managing themselves and others when required. You will provide a quality service, whilst working to the highest standards and continuously developing your personal and professional skills. Taking ownership of your own work and client lists, accepting responsibility, being proactive, flexible and adaptable, planning your own work and time; whilst aiming for excellence by taking exceptional pride in your work and industry.

The entry requirements for this Advanced and Creative Hairdressing Apprenticeship are a Level 2 NVQ in Hairdressing, Level 2 Hair Professional or equivalent. As well as a grade 4 minimum in both English and Maths.

The Advanced and Creative Hairdressing Apprenticeship will take you 12-18 months to complete. You will spend the majority of your time in the workplace and will be required to attend College for one day per week.

As an Apprentice, you will pay no course fees. However, your employer may have to pay towards your training as well as providing you with a wage (please see below).

There are different rates of pay for apprentices depending on your age and what year of your apprenticeship you’re in.

Aged 16 to 18.

The current National Minimum Wage rate for an apprentice is £4.81 per hour.

Aged 19 or over and in your first year.

The current National Minimum Wage rate for an apprentice is £4.81 per hour.

Aged 19 or over and have completed your first year.

You’re entitled to the National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage rate for your age.

If you would like to gain the Diploma in Accounting Level 3 you will need to pay exam entry fees of £245. You will also need to register with the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) - which is currently £225 for the duration of this qualification. This will be invoiced separately.

Assessment methods include practical observations, assignments and end of unit external assessment.

Working in salons you will provide fashion-forward hair trends, which are innovative styles inspired by current images and their own creativity, individual flair, imagination and interpretation.
