Do you enjoy maths and are curious to learn more and broaden your knowledge? Or have the ambition to go into Higher Education or progress at work?

This Level 3 Mathematical Studies Certificate has been designed to widen participation in the study of mathematics and support the development of mathematical skills for progression to higher education and employment.

This course offers you the opportunity to study part-time and work towards a qualification for your own personal development and/or career progression.

What will I do?

During the Level 3 Mathematical Studies Certificate you will cover the following topics-

  • Analysis of Data
  • Maths for Personal Finance
  • Fermi Estimation
  • The Modelling Cycle
  • Critical Analysis
  • Statistical Techniques
  • The Normal Distribution
  • Probabilities and Estimation
  • Correlation and Regression

The entry qualifications for the Level 3 Mathematical Studies Certificate are at least a Level 2 qualification in maths and minimum of Level 1 in English.

The Level 3 Mathematical Studies Certificate will take you 32 weeks to complete, starting on Tuesday 13th September 2022.

This course will be studied remotely through Microsoft Teams, every Tuesday evening between 6:00pm - 8:30pm.

In addition to remote classes, you will be offered revision days taking place at our Rochford Campus, Boston in May 2023.

The Level 3 Mathematical Studies Certificate may be fully funded by the Adult Education Budget should you be eligible under the following criteria:

  • Be aged 19 or older on the 31st August at the start of the current academic year
  • Be either unemployed and receiving JSA, ESA or Universal Credit (subject to criteria) OR be earning less than £17,374.50 (annual gross salary) a year

If you do not qualify for funding under the AEB budget this course will cost you £724.

Please note that all fees are subject to change.

You will be assessed through two external exams papers, with the exams taking place at our Rochford Campus, Boston in June 2023.

This qualification offers a wide range of progression opportunities including progressing to higher educationor in the workplace where there is specific mathematical content.
