Hands-on experience is at the heart of this course. You'll find yourself mastering various welding techniques, from arc welding to TIG welding, MIG welding, and sheet/plate welding. Alongside, you'll acquire the ability to interpret engineering drawings using CAD techniques, empowering you to transform design concepts into tangible creations. In addition to honing your technical prowess, the course emphasises digital literacy, teamwork, and professional skills, ensuring you're well-prepared for collaborative work environments.
The Fabrication and Welding Certificate Level 2 has been developed in conjunction with industry experts and informed by the work of professional bodies in the fabrication and welding field.

The Fabrication and Welding Certificate Level 2 is split into distinct topics, all designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to progress and succeed in the Fabrication and Welding sector. Over the course of the year you will be at the college you will cover:
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. However, the college will conduct initial assessments and you may be required to undertake Maths and English as part of your study.
The Fabrication and Welding Certificate Level 2 will take you one year to complete. You will attend College at our state-of-the-art EMAT Centre, on our Rochford Campus in Boston.
During your time at college you will be on-site for at least three days a week, plus independent study.
Fabrication and Welding Certificate Level 2 is free, if you are under the age of 19 on 31 August of the year you start the course.
Aged 19+?
If you are aged 19 years or over on the 1st day of your course, you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan or be free under community learning to help with your college fees. If you progress to employment you won't have to pay anything back until youโre earning ยฃ25,000 per year. Your household income isn't taken into account and there's no credit check. Please note, to provide you with the most flexibility your studies will consist of two separate years, each enrolled onto separately. Therefore, if you are aged 19+ before starting either year of the full qualification you will be required to pay course fees.

Assessment of the Fabrication and Welding Level 2 is done via a combination of online multiple-choice assessments as well as practical assessments done in the classroom.
Successful completion of Fabrication and Welding Level 2 will enable you to progress further In your studies. This may be onto a relevant Level 3 course, onto an Apprenticeship, or potentially onto a HNC/HND in Construction or Engineering.
