There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. However, the college will conduct initial assessments and you may be required to undertake Maths and English as part of your study.

The Fabrication and Welding Certificate Level 2 will take you one year to complete. You will attend College at our state-of-the-art EMAT Centre, on our Rochford Campus in Boston.

During your time at college you will be on-site for at least three days a week, plus independent study.

Fabrication and Welding Certificate Level 2 is free, if you are under the age of 19 on 31 August of the year you start the course.

Aged 19+?
If you are aged 19 years or over on the 1st day of your course, you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan or be free under community learning to help with your college fees. If you progress to employment you won't have to pay anything back until you’re earning £25,000 per year. Your household income isn't taken into account and there's no credit check. Please note, to provide you with the most flexibility your studies will consist of two separate years, each enrolled onto separately. Therefore, if you are aged 19+ before starting either year of the full qualification you will be required to pay course fees.

Assessment of the Fabrication and Welding Level 2 is done via a combination of online multiple-choice assessments as well as practical assessments done in the classroom.

Successful completion of Fabrication and Welding Level 2 will enable you to progress further In your studies. This may be onto a relevant Level 3 course, onto an Apprenticeship, or potentially onto a HNC/HND in Construction or Engineering.

You may also decide to progress into employment upon completion of this course. Fabrication and Welding Certificate Level 2 will equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to progress into careers such as:
