Are you aged over 19? Unemployed and looking at employment opportunities? Earning less than Β£18,525 (annual gross salary) a year and looking at learning a new skill? The employability team at Boston College will be able to help you. We offer a range of FREE courses to help you gain new skills, build your confidence and get you back to work.

IT Skills is designed to cover the basics of IT, help build your confidence and develop your skills for employment.

What will I do?

We offer a variety of Level 1 IT Skills units to help you improve your computing and IT knowledge -

  • Word Processing Level 1 – Using MS Word
  • Spreadsheets Level 1- Using MS Excel
  • Using the Internet Level 1 - Using Search Engines
  • Using Emails Level 1- Using Email platforms
  • Presentation Skills Level 1 – Using PowerPoint

There are no formal entry qualifications for the Level 1 IT Skills course, however a basic level of IT is beneficial.

If you are concerned about the level of study an alternative course would be the Basic IT Skills.

The Level 1 IT Skills course will take you four weeks to complete, you will study this course at our Boston, Spalding or Horncastle Campus.

Please note that you must be able to attend all sessions to complete the course.

Tuition fees are FREE for those in receipt of JSA, ESA (WRAG) or some Universal Credit, also for those on low wages.

The assessment of this course will be via workbooks.
