Are you aged over 19? Unemployed and looking at employment opportunities? Earning less than Β£18,525 (annual gross salary) a year and looking at learning a new skill? The employability team at Boston College will be able to help you. We offer a range of FREE courses to help you gain new skills, build your confidence and get you back to work.

Our Basic IT Skills course is designed to cover the basics of IT, help build your confidence and develop your skills for employment.

What will I do?

During the Basic IT Skills course you will study Basic IT including -

  • Word processing – producing documents
  • Saving and printing
  • E-mails including uploading documents
  • Internet – searching

You can then progress to study the IT Skills Accredited NOCN Units Level 1 course.

There are no formal entry qualifications for the Basic IT Skills course.

The Basic IT Skills course will take four weeks to complete, attending College for 3 hours per week. You can study at either our Boston, Spalding or Horncastle Campus.

Tuition fees are FREE for those in receipt of JSA, ESA (WRAG) or some Universal Credit, also for those on low wages.

The assessment of this course will be via workbooks.

Our IT Skills course can help you to build your confidence and develop your knowledge, this will enable you to successfully progress onto an accredited Level 1 qualification.
