The Electrical Installation Diploma Level 1 is designed for those wanting to enter to electrical industry. You will pick up core skills and knowledge to provide you with the oppportuinity to progress onto our Level 2 and Level 3 Electrical Installation qualifications.

You will study in our on-site workshop, which is built to resemble a realistic working environment to ensure you gain the skills you need to progress a career in the trade.

What will I do?

Modules include:

  • Structure of the Construction Industry
  • Fundamental Safe Working Practices
  • Environmental and Sustainability Measures in Domestic Dwellings
  • Site Preparation for Working in the Construction Industry
  • Wiring and Terminals
  • Fabrication Techniques
  • Electrical Science and Technology

Full time 16-19 students with a Grade 3 or below, must study towards a GCSE grade 4-9.

Applicants must have basic literacy and numeracy skills. These skills are essential for success in any trade, as they enable individuals to read and understand technical instructions, calculate measurements and quantities, follow safety procedures and regulations, communicate effectively with colleagues, customers, and supervisors, and solve problems and make decisions in a safe and efficient manner.

Vocational education programs typically provide literacy and numeracy support to students throughout their learning. This is delivered in a variety of ways, such as through embedded literacy and numeracy instruction and stand-alone literacy and numeracy courses.

In addition to receiving literacy and numeracy support throughout their learning, students in vocational education programs are also required to study these skills alongside their main qualification as part of their study program. This ensures that students develop the literacy and numeracy skills they need to be successful in their chosen trade.

The Electrical Installation Diploma Level 1 will take you one year to complete. You will attend the College for up to four days a week.

The Electrical Installation Diploma Level 1 course is free, if you are under the age of 19 on 31 August of the year you start the course.

If you are aged 19+, this course will cost ยฃ1500.

You will build a portfolio of electrical installation tasks. You will carry out assignments in the classroom and practical assessments in the workshop.

Functional Skills are assessed by exams.

Successful completion of the Electrical Installation Diploma Level 1 course could allow you to progress to the Electrical Installations Diploma Level 2.

You may also wish to progress your career in the workplace, through undertaking an Apprenticeship.

Additional costs include clothing as per subject area requirements (will be discussed at interview), contribution towards educational visits and educational materials (pens, folders etc. as required by subject areas).
