The Level 1 Introduction to Early Years Award aims to enable learners to develop a basic knowledge and understanding of the needs of young children aged 0-5 years 11 months in Early Years settings.

  • Have you ever thought about working with children?
  • Are you interested in a career within Early Years or Education?
  • If you are passionate about working with children 0-5 this could be for you
  • This course has been designed specifically to develop your knowledge, understanding and practical skills to support you with a career within Early Years

Completion of this course can help you progress onto/into a career within Early Years. With the aim to becoming an Early Years Practitioner you will work on developing your practical skills and knowledge and understanding…preparing you to progress onto other qualifications within Early Years or Schools.

What will I do?

During the Level 1 Introduction to Early Years Award you will cover the following -

  • The value of play for babies and young children
  • Management and organisation in an early years setting
  • Introduction to community development in early years settings
  • Roles and responsibilities in an early years setting

There are no specific entry requirements for the Level 1 Introduction to Early Years Award.

The Level 1 Introduction to Early Years Award will take you 12 hours to complete over 4 face to face sessions. Starting on the dates below, 09:30am – 12:30pm.

Boston Rochford Campus Thursday 17th November 2022 Horncastle Campus Wednesday 16th November 2022

The Level 1 Introduction to Early Years Award may be FREE through the Adult Education Budget should you be eligible under the following criteria

  • Be aged 19 or older on the 31st August at the start of the current academic year
  • Be either unemployed and receiving JSA, ESA or Universal Credit (subject to criteria) OR be earning less than £18,525.00 (annual gross salary) a year

If you do not qualify for funding under the AEB budget this course will cost you £215.

Please note that all fees are subject to change.

Your knowledge will be assessed through written tasks set within a booklet for each unit.

Level 2 Diploma Early Years Practitioner, Level 3 Diploma Early Years Educator (Apprenticeship or Part Time route), Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning (Schools)
