The Allergy Awareness for those Working with Children Certificate Level 2 aims to develop your knowledge and understanding of allergy awareness, including the causes of allergies and what to do should an allergic reaction occur.

Please note: You may only complete one of the Distance Learning Allergy Awareness courses as the first two units for theses qualifications are all exactly the same. These courses are:

  • Allergy Awareness Working with Children Certificate Level 2
  • Allergy Awareness Working in the Service Sector Certificate Level 2
  • Allergy Awareness Working in Adult Social Care Certificate Level 2

What will I do?

During the course, you will cover topics including:

  • Allergens, Allergies and Intolerances: Gain a background knowledge behind allergies, allergens and intolerances as well as an understanding of how allergies and intolerances are diagnosed and treated
  • Food Labelling and Packaging: Understand the importance of food labelling, understand regulations for food labelling, and understand packaging regulation
  • Allergy Awareness for those Working with Children: Know the signs and effects of allergic reactions and understand how to reduce the risk of an allergic reaction

To study this course, you will need:

  • To be aged 19+ on 31st August of the year you start the course
  • A minimum of a Level 1 qualification in English/Literacy or equivalent

To assist in completion of this qualification, it may help to be working in, or have access to, the chosen sector. If you already have a higher-level qualification in this specialism, it may impact on your eligibility.

This course will take you approximately 14 weeks to complete. Distance Learning courses can be studied from home, work, or any location you wish. This course will be studied via fully online learning and assessments.

This course is currently being subsidised by Boston College and is therefore FREE* of charge.

We do accept that sometimes there are exceptional circumstances that prohibit you from completing these courses. If you find yourself struggling with the qualification, our support staff will always try to help you find a workable resolution. However, if you are studying a free course and choose to withdraw, you may have to pay a non-completion fee of £85 to cover the administration costs, materials and registration fees.

You will be allocated your own online study pack and will be supported by a personal tutor who you can contact throughout your studies. You will work through a series of tasks and activities to assist in gaining the qualification. There is no formal exam, however there will be written assessments related to the content.

Successful completion of the course will lead to a better understanding of the subject, which may improve your career prospects. You could also progress onto other qualifications in this field, or further courses to continue your CPD.
