Game Design Extended Diploma Level 3 is equivalent to 3 A Levels.

To study Game Design Extended Diploma Level 3, you will need to hold a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including Maths and English Language.

The Level 3 Games Design course will take you two years to complete. During your time at the college, you will be based in our state-of-the-art Digital Transport and Logistics Centre (DTLA) on our Rochford Campus (Boston). You will attend College for at least four days a week, plus independent study.

Game Design Extended Diploma Level 3 is free, if you are under the age of 19 on 31 August of the year you start the course.

Aged 19+
If you are aged 19 years or over on the 1st day of your course, you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to help with your College fees. If you progress to employment you won't have to pay anything back until you’re earning Β£25,000 per year. Your household income isn't taken into account and there's no credit check. If you are aged 19+, this course will cost: Β£8583.
If you are aged 19-23, fee remission may apply depending on personal circumstances, please enquire with the Registry Department for further information on 01205 365701 or email your query to fees@boston.ac.uk.

Please note, to provide you with the most flexibility your studies will consist of two separate years, each enrolled on to separately. Therefore, if you are aged 19+ before starting either year of the full qualification you will be required to pay course fees.

You will be assessed using a shared set of assessment criteria that covers all units. Grades awarded for each criterion correspond to a point value and points accumulate to establish the overall qualification grade.

There are four mandatory assessment units in the Extended Diploma. You can also choose to undertake an optional Level 4 assessment unit in the Extended Diploma.

Successful completion of Game Design Extended Diploma Level 3 will enable you to progress further In your studies. This may be, onto a Higher Level Apprenticeship, or potentially onto an HNC/HND in a Game Design related subject such as Game Development, Games Art, Software Development, Creative Writing, Computer Science for Games, or Digital/Creative Media, amongst others.

You may also decide to progress into employment upon completion of this course. Game Design Extended Diploma Level 3 will equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to progress into careers such as:

  • Games Programming

These include purchasing pens, paper, and other stationery items, as well as acquiring course-specific materials tailored to your curriculum.
