Our Level 3 (Advanced) Infrastructure Technician Apprenticeship will require you to provide and ensure support to internal and external customers, ensure communication channels are kept open and assisting employees to be productive when using technology to do their own jobs, including BYOD technology. This is achieved by using tools to problem solve and trouble shoot routine and non-routine problems.

The Infrastructure Technician sets people up on systems and provides support when they need it, rectifying issues to maintain the organisations productivity.

What will I do?

During the Level 3 Infrastructure Technician Apprenticeship you will acquire technical competencies, understanding and developing your knowledge in several areas linked to the role of an Infrastructure Technician. These will include Research, Basic Theory, Communication, Health and Safety, IT Security, Remote Infrastructure including Mobile Technologies, Data Recording and Analysis, Problem Solving and Performance Optimisation.

You will do this in the work place, at College and by examination, vendor qualifications and the creation and writing of case studies/projects. The completion of mini assignments will also be necessary to test your acquired knowledge and understanding.

The entry qualifications for the Level 3 Infrastructure Technician Apprenticeship are a Level 3 qualification in an associated subject including English and Maths, or Functional Skills English and Maths at Level 2 or above.

You will also need to be in a relevant job role.

The Infrastructure Technician Apprenticeship will take you 15 months to complete.

You will be expected to attend College for at least 10-12 days of study with any given one year period. These dates will be made available to both yourself and the employer at the start of your apprenticeship.

As an Apprentice, you will pay no course fees. However, your employer may have to pay towards your training as well as providing you with a wage (please see below).

All Apprentices will receive a minimum wage of £3.90 per hour within their first year of training from their employer, although they can, and often do, pay more.

In the second and subsequent years of an Apprenticeship programme, the following applies:

Under 18s – the required national minimum wage of £4.35 per hour.

18–20 year olds - the required national minimum wage of £6.15 per hour.

21-24 year olds - the required national minimum wage of £7.70 per hour.

25 year olds and over – the required national minimum wage of £8.21 per hour.

The Infrastructure Technician Apprenticeship is assessed by computer-based exams and a portfolio of evidence, which is collected from the workplace. You will also be allocated an assessor who will assess your progress as you complete your course and carry out monthly reviews.
